Car Wash - this Saturday 15 July

We need washers for the car wash this Saturday.  Car wash starts 8am till 1pm in three shifts:  8am-10am, 10am-12md, 11am-1pm.  All funds raised go to the New Life Orphanage in Myanmar (Burma).  There will be a sausage sizzle and mechanical inspections also available to clients.  All clients will be invited to a free BBQ lunch after the Discovery Service on the 23rd July.  Contact Damien Watson on 3821 5181 or damienwatson@optusnet.com.au. Please keep this event in your prayers.

This Sunday

AM: The apostle James has some hard-hitting words about the way we use our tongue, when he makes a comparison with a bushfire: " The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body . . . no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison."
All of us will be well aware of the power of our tongue, a power for good or a power for evil. It is vital for our Christian walk to know that Jesus also gave His life for our tongue, and that the Holy Spirit desires to sanctify that little organ, so that more and more we use it only for the good of others, and for the glory of God.

PM: You can only be amazed at how Paul the Pharisee reacted to what he saw in Athens and how that impacted on what he said on Mars Hill. Make no mistake: if we were part of his culture his approach would have made us profoundly uncomfortable. What does it have to say for how we share the good news of Jesus with our culture? Read ahead at Acts 17:16-34

PS. After both services we ask you to fill out a short survey as part of the National Church Life Survey – thanks in advance for your help!

Breakfast meeting: July 22, 7:30am – 9:30pm

The Church Council calls the congregation to breakfast on July 22. This is a full and open meeting of the Redlands CRC church family. As well as sharing breakfast, we will work through the following points of business and discussion:
(1) Our Mission and vision – what is our long term plan for the future?
(2) How will this vision be resourced in the year to come, and what are the long term implications – matters of the budget for the coming year. There are some very encouraging aspects to the report Eddie will deliver
(3) Property issues: What have we learned through the Month of Prayer? What are the latest developments with the adjoining block on Delancey St (ie. The Plumber’s property)
(4) Explore foundational issues re: church planting. Some discussion was commenced on this last time, and there are some important issues we need to think through
(5) General issues and miscellaneous items
Church Council would like to point out that they value the input and views of all people in the congregation. We need to work on these issues together, and in a spirit of Christlike collaboration seek unity in a common vision that honours the Gospel.
This meeting is open to everyone who come along to Redlands CRC – we really want everyone there!
Please set this date aside, and advise the church office how many people are coming with you. You can send your RSVP to office@redlandscrc.org,au
