Sunday

9am: "Jesus & Healing" Hey, it's on everyone's minds, so it's time we opened the Word and had the Lord speak to us through it. What sort of healing ministry did Jesus have? Why did he heal people? And how is this relevant for what we are going through as a church family? On October 14  I will be looking at "Healing and Faith" and the week after "Healing and Mystery"

If you have questions that you think should be considered as I prepare, feel free to send them through to dave@redlandscrc.org.au I can't guarantee I will address them all,  and the ones I do address, I may not do so to your satisfaction, but I do want to scratch where people itch. So: speak to me.

5pm: Dan Kroon will be leading

From Monday:

Dave & Leonie will be on leave. For urgent needs please contact Peter Goodridge (0412 161 597 peter@discountlighting.com.au). Keith and Emmy Warren will be back on Monday, but they need a few days to find their feet again, so let's give them a ‘soft landing'.

October 20th: Breakfast @ RCRC

We will be discussing the new Terms & Tasks document for Elders. The Eldership would like the congregation to affirm these amended rules. We want to give plenty of opportunity for you to clarify their meaning or to ask questions. There is an background paper at the Information Booth. Please take a copy and come ready to discuss (and hopefully, adopt).

We will also get an update as to building plans and the latest developments from the workgroup.

October 21st: Church Picnic

...after the 9am service (11:30ish).

Capalaba Regional Park (behind Bunnings), get your small group going, ask your friends, it will be great!

This will be a time of getting to know one another, sharing
food and good conversations.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Let's start making a difference together

BYO picnic things.

Prayer

Can I encourage you to continue in diligent prayer for Clinton's health and family? I think one of the tests we receive at times like these is how well we persist in prayer. We're so used to things being quick and easy that ongoing commitment, what Eugene Peterson describes as "long obedience in the same direction," is hard to maintain. This is not a new problem, as we find out in Mat 26:36-46. So let me ask: are your prayers determined and bold? Are you persisting? Staying with it? Let's not assume that if we just ‘get this right' everything will work out the way we want. God is not a politician: he does not count votes. But He does want us to pray and ask, as a servant asks their Master,  as a child asks their mother. He wants us, in prayer, to express our utter dependence on him. So be diligent in prayer, friends (Col 4:2, 1 Thess 5:16-22). May God draw us together in full reliance on him.

  • - Continue to remember Clinton, Tracy and their family. How we need the grace of God's intervention!
  • - Burma: the nation is looking unsettled as demonstrations build. Ask for the church to give wise leadership in a very precarious situation
  • - Encourage others in prayer, draw people together around God's promises in the Gospel. Ask that God will use our current context for a powerful demonstration of who Jesus is, what he had done, and the difference he makes.
