HSM - Evening for Parents...

Tomorrow night (Thursday, 5th) is our Parents' Night for HSM. It's a chance for parents of HSM'ers to come and find out some more about our program, meet some leaders, and share some supper.

Sunday

9am: The end of all prayer: Rev 21. They day is coming when prayer will be 24/7. Every longing we have for life, for hope and for justice is a prayer than yearns for fulfilment. The day will come. And it will come when Jesus comes. Are you praying for that? And until the day, are you living your prayer in the here and now?

5pm: Post Amos Sermon. Israel's role as a ‘light to the nations' and how their disobedience to God meant that they were actually a stumbling block to the people, and how now in Christ, the church is again called to be a light to the nations and take a gospel with us wherever we go and the difference that makes in people's lives.

 "I have a friend who struggles with..."

This July we are starting a series on the questions that you (or your friends) have about faith, the Bible and what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Soon we will put out topics for you to vote on, but before then we need your input.

So what are the questions you have? What would you love to hear a sermon about, but never do? This is your opportunity to have input into what we preach.

Garage Sale

Please keep gathering together items to be sold at the Garage Sale. Due to the unavailability of storage area for sale items, Wendy will be at the church from 10am onwards on Friday 13th June. So please drop in and unload your car, trailer, truck of items to be sold on the day.

Kids Games

The Kids Games craft team need - 20 icecream container lids, 120 cardboard sheets (the sides off the large cereal boxes) and any sized takeaway containers.
Please leave them at the welcome desk this Sunday. Thanks!

There will be 120 hungry kids mouths to feed at kids games this year. If you are interested in donating and/or cooking some morning tea items for this, please contact Lisa Keegan on 0421 832 064 or email lisa@redlandscrc.org.au for more information.

 BURMA   :    2 more Opportunities to bring in supplies.

It is now confirmed that Frank and Eddie will be leaving Monday evening 9th June for Burma.   Then on the 19th June, Janette will also be going into Burma with 3 Burmese friends.  They all hope to bring in as as many needy donations as they can.

The needs are enormous.  There are 2 more Sundays when physical donations can be brought in, if you can help.

       Multi-vitamins

        Pain relief tablets

        Rain and Wind Jackets (small-medium adult sizes)

        Bandaging

        Men's buttoned shirts (short sleeve, small-medium adult sizes)

        Women's underwear (simple type - sizes 8-14 Such as bonds)

        Water-purifying tablets

      Childrens clothes - sizes 6,8,10,12 (boys and girls)

      Children's jumpers  - easy to wash and dry ( not knitted)

The number of orphans at New Life has increased by atleast 40 children so the resources are being stretched considerably.

Any of these items will be greatly appreciated and thanks to those who have already donated.

 YAK - ICESKATING!!

When: 13th June (Friday night)
 
Time: 6.30 - 10.30pm (approximately)
 
Where: ICEWORLD (1179 Beaudesert Road, Acacia Ridge 4110)
 
What: Meet at Cleveland Maccas at 6.30pm for dinner, then split into cars to drive to Acacia Ridge
 
Cost (entry and skate hire): $13.50 per adult  (may be cheaper if we have lots of people)
 
Bring:  socks, $13.50 entry fee + extra money for dinner, and bring a friend!!

 HSM Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is on next Saturday for all students in Year 8 - 11. As I need to get an idea of numbers, please RSVP when possible (by this Sunday would be great).

Day: Saturday, 14 June.
Time: 10am - 5pm.
Cost: $10.00

Pie Drive for Mello

 For the next three Sundays there will be ladies on a table in the hall taking orders for family pies, sweet pies and slices raising money for Melody Groenenboom's work in Africa.  The cost of a family pie is $14.50.  You need to pay cash with your order.  Delivery date will be the weekend of the 28th June.  For further information contact Helen Watson (dhwatson@iinet.net.au)
